To our fans, thank you for all your support over the last couple of years. To those that came to our shows, and to those that couldn’t but still cranked our tunes over their car stereos, thank you!! thank you!! thank you!! Thank you for making our dreams of pretending that we are rock stars come true.
I wanted to give an update on the developments of the Champagne Saints. Although we have been quiet, there has been a lot going on behind the scenes. We performed only our second show in Chicago back in March. It was a blast, but also left me personally, burned out. In the spirit of full disclosure, I did not know whether I wanted to be in a band anymore. The logistics of having the various band members spread out all over the country takes its toll not only financially, but also physically and emotionally. I went so far as to send a letter to the other band members in essence dissolving the band with intentions to record on my own. I put this project together and devoted more than any 30+ year old should devote to this ridiculous enterprise called rock n roll. While it may have seemed drastic at the time, it was the break I desperately needed.
Over the past few weeks, I have become reinspired (i guess it didn’t take long). I have recently asked my longtime friends Marius and Tadas Kasputis to help me carry the torch of The Champagne Saints, and both have agreed to do so. Together we have gone back into the studio to work on the follow-up to Throwing Hail Marys. I use the term “studio” loosely however, this time around. Whereas the last record was recorded entirely in a professional studio (to be precise, two professional studios), our intentions this time around is to utilize home recording equipment, a generous friend’s basement, and begin the recording process. At least initially, this arrangement will assist with lowering cost and develop a more stress-free recording experience without sacrificing quality.
While the logistical challenges remain, technology has allowed us to begin to develop a record that I am truly excited about. While it is far, far too early in the process to know ultimately what shape the new record will take, I am confident in saying that this record will sound like nothing I’ve been involved with before.
I cannot say when we expect to release this material, but hopefully sooner rather than later. Throwing Hail Marys took 2 years to complete, and I am hoping to go nowhere near as long this time around. So again, thank you for your time, patience and energy over the past 2+ years. Please stay with us…the payoff is going to be wild.
Yours truly,
Saulius of The Champagne Saints
